A highly entertaining and standout featherweight, Bubba Jenkins has built quite the name for himself in MMA, which includes a 6-2 record in the PFL entering tonight. A former NCAA wrestling champion and BRAVE CF champion, Jenkins came very close to a PFL World Championship last season. Jenkins had scored a pair of decisions in the regular season and a submission of Ryoji Kudo in the semifinals before a fourth-round TKO loss to Brendan Loughnane in the title fight.
Jenkins, who is also a 2021 PFL semifinalist, scored a decision win over Chris Wade in April.
After more than two years away from the PFL, which included missing all of last season due to injury, Jo Sungbin is 10-2 in his career thus far, having won all of his fights via finish and not being finished in either fight he lost. A taekwondo expert and champion across several regional promotions, Jo was last seen in the PFL in 2021, dropping a decision to Tyler Diamond.
A stoppage win in any round clinches Jenkins a playoff spot; meanwhile, Sungbin, who is fighting for the first time this season, needs a stoppage win to remain in contention for a playoff spot.
Round 1
Jenkins gets through Jo’s striking to score a quick takedown. Jenkins has Jo seated against the fence, as Jo tries to punch his way out of Jenkins’s grasp. Jo gets up, but he is still in Jenkins’s grasp against the SmartCage. Jenkins is able to suplex Jo and get hooks in quickly. In just as quick of a fashion, he locks in a choke and makes Jo go out!
Bubba Jenkins is back in the playoffs in emphatic fashion!
